How to Get a Library Card

Getting a Card

All visitors can receive their first library card free of charge. A valid, government-issued ID and proof of address are required. All patrons under the age of 17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign them up for a card. Any form of ID that has expired is not considered valid.

The following are acceptable forms of identification:

  • State issued identification card
  • State issued Driver's License
  • Military ID
  • Passport
  • Current School ID
  • Consulate-Issued ID

If you have just moved to the area and are still in the process of changing over identification or if your identification shows an incorrect address we will need one of the following documents in addition to your current identification:

  • Current vehicle, home, or property insurance card
  • Piece of mail postmarked within the last 60 days
  • Utility bill dated within the last 60 days

Replacement Cards cost $10.00. You will receive 2 copies of your new card - one for your wallet and one for your keychain. Both cards work the same, and either can be presented to check out materials. If you find your old library card, you can keep it or turn it in at the front desk to use as a spare in the event that you need a replacement again. No charge is issued to switch back to an older library card.

Renewing Your Card

Residents of White Settlement must renew their library cards every 2 years. Non-Residents’ cards must be renewed every year. You’ll need to come in person to the library to verify your ID and address to renew your card. There is no charge to renew your library card as long as you still have the card.
