How to Get a Library Card
All visitors can receive their first library card free of charge. A valid, state issued ID and proof of address are required. All patrons under the age of 17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign them up for a card.
The following are acceptable forms of identification:
- State issued identification card
- State issued Driver's License
- Military ID
- Matricula consular ID
- Current school ID
Any form of ID that has expired is not considered valid. Out of state (non-Texas) IDs will limit the patron to checking out just one (1) item at a time; Military IDs limit the patron to checking out five (5) items at a time.
If the patron's correct address is not listed on their form of ID, valid proof of residency is also required. The following are acceptable forms for proof of address:
- Piece of mail postmarked within the last 60 days
- Current insurance card
- Current Medicaid card
- Personal check
- Most recent tax return
- Utility bill dated within the last 60 days
We do NOT accept lease agreements as valid proof of address.
Replacement Cards cost $10.00. You will receive 2 copies of your new card - one for your wallet and one for your keychain. Both cards work the same, and either can be presented to check out materials. If you find your old library card, you can keep it or turn it in at the front desk to use as a spare in the event that you need a replacement again. No charge is issued to switch back to an older library card.
Renewing Your Card
Residents of White Settlement must renew their library cards every 2 years. Non-Residents’ cards must be renewed every year. You’ll need to come in person to the library to verify your ID and address to renew your card. There is no charge to renew your library card as long as you still have the card.
